What ascension actually does
When you clear the final boss of a realm, Eternal Rush opens the Ascension gate. Ascending resets your run — your wave progress and gold reset — in exchange for permanent bonuses that make future runs stronger and faster.
Think of it like this: your first climb to the gate might take a while. After ascending, that same stretch can take less time because you're permanently more powerful. Then you can push past where you got stuck before, into a new realm with fresh enemies and additional loot.
The progress you "lose" is exchanged for permanent bonuses. Ascension resets a run, but it also gives the next cycle a stronger starting point.
When should you ascend?
The golden rule: ascend when your climb slows to a crawl.
Watch for these signs:
- You're stuck on the same wave or boss for minutes at a time.
- Your gold income has flatlined and upgrades barely move the needle.
- You've cleared the realm's final boss and the game is prompting you.
When you hit that wall, ascending is one option to consider. Compare the value of another wave or reward with the permanent boost before resetting.
When not to ascend
- Mid-realm with momentum. If waves are still falling quickly, keep farming — you're banking value.
- Right before a big reward. If you're one boss away from a chest, egg, or quest completion, grab it first.
Make every ascension count
- Spend your gold before you reset. Gold doesn't carry over, so dump it into hero levels and upgrades before you ascend.
- Claim everything first. Open chests, hatch eggs, and clear daily quests before resetting.
- Lean on gold-find heroes. Heroes like Bastion (gold find) and Reaper (boss gold) help you hit the gate faster on every run.
- Use Diamond Powers. Permanent diamond-powered boosts stack with your ascension bonuses for an even steeper curve.
The mindset shift
Players who prefer long-term progression can think in terms of cycles: climb, ascend, then climb again with permanent bonuses. Each cycle gives you another opportunity to evaluate upgrades and progression.
When the Ascension gate appears, review your current rewards and upgrades, then decide whether a reset fits your run. A reset can be useful, but the timing remains your choice.
